All my patterns are sold as PDF files. That means they are digital patterns, delivered instantly by email, with links to video tutorials right in the pattern. Neat!
You only print the pages needed, and you can print directly onto specialty papers like freezer paper, fusible adhesive, or Sulky Sticky Fabri-solvy. You can skip the tedious tracing step! Extra neat!
How does it work?
After you complete your purchase, you’ll get a link to download the pattern. Click on it to begin downloading your pattern file directly to your computer. If you are on a mobile device or a tablet and the download does not work on the first try, please try downloading on a different device.
Print your pattern pages at 100% so you don’t accidentally enlarge or reduce the size of the pattern pieces.
Most of the time I’m able to design things so that individual pattern pieces print on a single page. Very rarely you’ll have to tape two pattern pieces together – and when that happens I include a link to instructions for how to do it. It’s really easy when it’s only a couple of pieces!
Patterns can be viewed in a free PDF viewer such as Adobe Reader or Preview (Mac). You can also use iBooks or other reader apps on a tablet to view the instructions. This will allow you to zoom in/out on diagrams.
If your pattern does not open immediately after download, and you can’t seem to find it anywhere – look for a folder on your computer called “downloads.” Most systems are set up to automatically send downloaded files to the folder.
DON’T FORGET TO SAVE YOUR PATTERN FILE on your computer so that you will always have access to it. A lot of people also email the pattern file (not the link – the actual file) to themselves (but not to others — that’s a copyright violation!) to keep a copy saved in your email. That’s a handy way to save it “to the cloud” if you don’t subscribe to a cloud service. If you have a Google account you can save a LOT of files to your Google Drive account for free – another nice way to back things up.
Pattern download links are delivered two ways as soon as payment is received. You’ll go right to a “thank you” page where there will be links to download any patterns you just bought. Instant gratification! You’ll also get a follow-up email with a link – very handy for when you buy it on your phone, but want to wait until you’re at your regular computer to download.
A lot of people think they can’t use digital patterns if they don’t have a printer. Not so! Read this post for some easy suggestions for how to handle that situation. 🙂
